What if we called trauma responses what they really are? Maladaptive, emotionally immature, socially crippling behaviors that we need to address. What if we took responsibility for our reactions to triggers instead of blaming the triggers? Imagine replacing victim shaming with accountability. When we do that, we start healing, stop fetishizing trauma, and take charge of our own recovery. Living through trauma means we can live through healing. Give yourself credit for who you’ve become.

1️⃣ Acknowledge Your Emotions: You're allowed to be excited. You're allowed to be sad. You're allowed to get your feelings hurt.

2️⃣ Embrace Your Journey: You're allowed to get rich. You're allowed to fail. You're allowed to learn.

3️⃣ Reflect and Rewrite: Identify all the "shoulds" imposed by society, and start rewriting your own code. What truly matters to you? What's important in your life?

4️⃣ Empower Yourself: Realize that your rights, needs, and wants are just as important as anyone else's. Start living by your own rules, and watch your life transform.

People pleasing and addiction share a really dangerous characteristic.

First, you have to understand the idea behind tolerance. The more of something you do, the more of it you’ll need to do to achieve the same result. This is because your body builds up a tolerance to the poison, and it just doesn’t work as well.

But here’s the thing: people pleasing is poison for the soul, and it feels just as bad for the body. It triggers a dopamine response in the brain, making us feel good even though we're sabotaging our own lives and using the acceptance of others to feel safe.

Over time, people get accustomed to our giving, so their reactions aren't as big. This means we don’t get as much dopamine, so we have to do more to get the same effect. And the end result? Burnout. 🚫🔥

Remember, there's nothing wrong with being generous. But if you find yourself giving to gain acceptance, you're on a very dangerous path. Hope this helps. 💜

Choosing to be happy can sometimes feel like toxic positivity, pushed by a culture that avoids responsibility. It's easier to blame others than to take a hard look at our own choices. I used to live in that exact misery until, one day in rehab, I had a wake-up call. Maybe it's you. By examining my own behavior and taking responsibility, I found a path to genuine joy and personal freedom. Hope this helps. 💪✨

I recently signed up for a new coaching course, and it's not going exactly how I thought. Everything I thought was going to happen is probably still going to happen; it's just that the road to getting there has become slightly more tedious. I don't see eye to eye with many of the people in the cohort, and my particular brand of living isn't for everybody.

As I was writing that today, I started to feel really discouraged, and I had to really ask myself whether this was for me or not, whether I ought to just stop here and do what's easiest. But then it occurred to me that there was a bigger lesson that I had failed to learn throughout my entire life.

That lesson is humility. It's allowing myself to be uncomfortable in the unknown. It's understanding that the discomfort I'm feeling might very well mean that I have a lot to learn.

While these people might not like me, it's okay for me to remain and do what I came to do. When you take responsibility for your own journey, it doesn't really matter who likes you or who doesn't along the way. It's about remaining true to your value systems and boundaries and loving yourself even as you grow and change.

So if the lessons you have to learn right now are particularly challenging or tedious, remember that the learning will come, the lessons will pass, and that as long as you remain true to yourself, what's for you will always find you.

They do not like you, and that is okay. You are not meant for everyone. You must ruffle a few feathers and make some folks uncomfortable to get where you are trying to go. Remember that just because you want something doesn't mean other people need to understand or even want to understand.
